Frank Mach, Sr., 84 - August 01, 2007
Frank Mach, Sr., 84, of Gothenburg, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care facility.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell
Mach was born on Dec. 10, 1922, in Custer County, to John and Anna (Hulinsky) Mach.
He attended rural school in Custer County and worked on the family farm in the Sargent area.
Mach then served his country during World War II and, upon his discharge, returned to Nebraska and was a partner in the Mach Brothers Blacksmith Shop at Comstock.
He was united in marriage to Jeanette Brown, on Jan. 22, 1955, at Sargent.
Mach worked for many area farmers in Custer County and, starting in 1977, he worked for Monroe’s in Cozad until 1984. He then retired but kept busy with lawn mower repairs and odd jobs.
He was a member of the Callaway American Legion for over 60 years.
Mach enjoyed animals and always had a special pet and spending time with his family was important to him, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; three daughters; six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanette of Callaway; three sons—Frank, Jr. (Jennifer) Mach of Oconto, Bill Mach (Lisa Juel) of Lexington and John (Angie) Mach of Gothenburg; three daughters—Fran Hagler of North Platte, Patti (Joe) Herndon of Gothenburg and Lucille (John) Kutnink of Cambridge; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the Bryson-Booker American Legion of Callaway.
