Vera Brock, 96 - April 11, 2007
Vera D. Brock, 96, of Cozad, died Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Cozad.
Services were to be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, at the Cozad Christian Church with Jeremy Jech officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
Brock was born on Oct. 9, 1910, at Gothenburg, to Warren and Minnie Putnam Earll.
On April 11, 1937, she married William H. Brock of Medicine Lodge, KS.
She was a member of the Christian Church for over 50 years and a member of the Rebecca Lodge for over 50 years, where she held several offices. She was also a charter member of the Cozad Grand Generation Center.
Brock was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother and worked hard to help support her family, according to family members. She loved to dance until her health limited her mobility after the age of 90. She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Bingo and other board games.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, William in 1970; a son-in-law, Edward “Eddie” Christensen; seven brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include: three daughters—Sharon Christensen of Cozad; Jeanette (William) McKown of Columbus and Joan (Joe) Novak of Lexington; two sons—Delbert (Linda) Brock of Kearney and Clifford (Marilyn) Brock of Gothenburg; 19 grandchildren—Cynthia (Jim) Peabody and Marty and Mark Gutierrez, all of Lexington, Cristyl (Ron) Wilcox, Monica Refior and Travis (Mindy) Brock, all of Cozad, Michael (Kay) Christensen, Launa (Troy) Cumpston and Chelsey Brock, all of Kearney, Delbert (Gina) Christensen of Gibbon, Holly (Brian) Shanle of St. Edward, Bryan (Laura) McKown of Fargo, ND, Michelle Pike of Johnson Lake, Benjamin (Kim) Gutierrez of Englewood, CO, Traci (Ross) Woodside of Holdrege, Ryan Brock of Aurora, CO, Detrick (Kirsten) Brock of Alpharetta, GA, Warren (Brenda) Brock of Spring Hill, KS, and Della Brock of Gothenburg; 42 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mae Lierman of Cozad; four sisters-in-law—Doris Earll of Cozad, Beverly Earll of Gothenburg, Dorthy Earll Anders of Farnam and Laura Earl of Spicer, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
