Goldie Zysset, 95 - March 21, 2007

Goldie Pearl (Franzen) Zysset, 95, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services will be held on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Thursday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 7-9 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the American Lutheran Cemetery at Gothenburg.
Zysset was born on Nov. 16, 1911, to Noah and Pearl (McClellen) Hudson, at Etna, north of Gothenburg.
She attended rural schools and later attended Gothenburg High School, graduating in 1928. After graduating, she taught country school for two years.
On May 25, 1935, she married John Franzen at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. To this union, seven children where born including two sets of twins.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1982, and after being widowed for almost nine years, she married Jess Zysset on Nov. 16, 1991, on her 80th birthday.
Zysset was active in the OIC Club, PVC Club, the American Lutheran Quilters Group, and was a life-long blood donor for the Red Cross.
She made baptismal napkins for the American Lutheran Church for 27 years, and was named Gothenburg’s first Mother of the Year around 1970. She also made quilts and afghans for others.
Zysset enjoyed her family and spending time her children as well as playing cards, quilting and crocheting, bowling, cooking and dancing, according to family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John H Franzen on Oct. 29, 1982; husband, Jess Zysset; a brother, Raymond Hudson; great-grandson, Lane Franzen.
Survivors include: six sons—Lyle (Arlene) Franzen, Larry (Marye) Franzen, Milan (Barb) Franzen and Dale (Anne) Franzen, all of Gothenburg, LaVern (Connie) Franzen of Hastings and Daryl ( Marcene) Franzen of North Platte; one daughter, Marlene (Fred) Williams of Ord; a brother, Earl (Gladys) Hudson of Gothenburg; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
