Opal Bauer, 88 - February 07, 2007
Opal L. Bauer, 88, of Gothenburg, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
Services were held on Monday, Feb. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matt Coplen officiating. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Bauer was born on Feb. 9, 1918, at Lexington, to Bert L. and Lena (Lange) Hollibaugh. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School.
She was united in marriage to Conrad Bauer on June 24, 1937, at Norton, KS.
Bauer was employed at Potter’s Pharmacy for approximately seven years where she enjoyed visiting with the people, according to family members.
She was active in the Mariners at the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed her family as well as dancing, crafting, yard work and cooking, said family members.
Bauer was preceded in death by: her parents, Bert and Lena; her husband, Conrad in 1994; one sister and two brothers.
?Survivors include: two sons—Jerry (Pat) Bauer of Ord and Jack (Sarah) Bauer of Kyle, TX; three daughters—JoAnn “Jo” (Don) Wilder of Kearney, Jan Rogers of Wichita, KS, and Judy Goodwin of Gothenburg; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Memorials are suggested to the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, 602 10th St., Gothenburg, NE 69138, and the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 194, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
