William Snyder, 81 - July 15, 2009


William “Bill” J. Snyder, 81, of Arizona, formerly of Maxwell, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
A memorial service was held June 15 at the Crown of Life Lutheran Church at Sun City West, AZ.
Snyder was born Sept. 13, 1927, at Maxwell to Jerry and Anna Snyder. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1945.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Holstein on Dec. 3, 1950. To this union three sons were born.
Snyder and his wife resided at Lincoln where he was stationed as a member of the Naval Air Force Reserves.
Following his service, he began a career in the meat industry which led him and his family to move about the country to numerous states. He retired as an executive with Orberto Sausage Company at Kent, WA, and then moved to Westbrook Village in Peoria, AZ.
Snyder, along with his wife, enjoyed an active and fulfilling retirement, valuing friendships created, especially through church, neighbors and golfing, according to family members. The couple also enjoyed cheering on the Nebraska Cornhusker football team.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, Jerry and Anna; his wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Shirley Snyder; brother-in-law, Arlo vanNatta.
?Survivors include: his sons—Bill, Jr. (Kami) Snyder of Mission Viejo, CA, Tom (Tami) Snyder and Bob (Rose) Snyder, all of Huntington Beach, CA; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Snyder of Brady; brothers-in-law—Robert (Lucille) Holstein of Sun City, AZ, and Lowell (Jan) Holstein of Tampa, FL; sister-in-law, Eunice vanNatta of Tacoma, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
