Russell Wilcox, 58 - June 24, 2009
Russell E. Wilcox, 58, of Farnam died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his home in Farnam.
A visitation was held Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad.
Services will be held Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Newell in Cozad with Mike Dennis and Roger Sloan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Wilcox was born Sept. 6, 1950, at Lexington to Arlie and Delores (Wilcox) Gritts. He attended Cozad High School.
On Oct. 1, 1967, he married Elaine L. Earll at Cozad. In 1976, he entered the U.S. Army.
Following his discharge from the Army, he and his family resided at several locations throughout Dawson County where he was employed primarily as a welder.
He was a member of the American Legion, the American Rifle Association and the NRA.
Wilcox was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping, gun collecting and his dogs, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his mother, Delores; step-father, Lewis Miller; his grandparents, Togo and Hazel Nakano.
?Survivors include: his fiance, Gaylene Wilcox of Farnam; a son, Billi Joe of Bend, OR; two daughters—Misty (Mike) Byrns of Lexington, and Cheryl Woodring of Bend; step-daughter, Amanda (Boatie) Diltz of Gothenburg; seven grandchildren—Rosey Meyers, Trisha Wilcox, Brittany Kussman, Dagger Anderson, Taylor Timmons, Landon Diltz and Samantha Diltz; great-grandchild, Ema Meyers; numerous other relatives and friends.
