Claribel (Beth) Carlson Crews - June 30, 2011

Claribel “Beth” (Carlson) Crews, 87, of Omaha passed away Sept. 30, 2010, at her home in Omaha.
Inurnment services were conducted on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Omaha.
Crews was born to Lloyd L. and Minnie L. (Bressler) Carlson at Sheridan Lake, CO, on June 23, 1923.
She moved with her family to Gibbon where they farmed. She attended Box Elder rural school where she received her elementary education, and attended Gibbon High School for two years.
Crews and her family then moved to a farm west of Cozad where she attended Cozad High School, graduating in 1939.
She taught school for five years at Dawson County rural schools, North District 29 and Bethel District 28.
Crews joined the Cadet Nursing Corps and received her training at Lincoln General Hospital, Bryan West, at Lincoln, and worked as a nurse for several years.
She was united in marriage to James “Jim” A. Crews. To this union, seven children were born including a set of twins.
Crews returned to nursing after her children were all in school, and then studied and received her bachelor and master’s degrees. She was employed for numerous years with the Visiting Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lloyd and Minnie; her husband, James “Jim”; a daughter, Mary; two brothers—Lloyd George and Wallace Carlson.
Survivors include: her sons—Craig (Diane), Curt (Pam) and Chris, all of Omaha, Clay (Sheryle) of Dardanelle, AK; two daughters—Nancy (Randy) Anderson and Sally Hunter, all of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Janey Peterson of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Ruth Carlson of Gothenburg; several nieces and nephews.
