Gladyce Youngberg, 98 - September 16, 2011
Gladyce Marie Youngberg, 98, of Gothenburg died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at North Platte.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Bill Ivey officiating. Interment will be at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Youngberg was born at a family farm near Cozad on May 23, 1913, to John W. and Selma (Erikson) Bellstrom. She grew up in the Gothenburg/Cozad communities, and attended Dawson County Middle School second through eighth grade and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1932.
She married Russell A. Youngberg at Ogallala on Sept. 18, 1935. To this union, five children were born.
For over 80 years she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gothenburg. The study of God’s word and her faith in Jesus Christ were a major focus of her life, said family members.
Youngberg enjoyed following the activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking for her family and friends as well as enjoying traveling, according to family members. She was also very proud of receiving the Pioneer Family Farm Award.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Selma; her husband, Russell in 1994; a brother, H.O. (Bob) Tederman.
Survivors include: her three sons—Stanley E. (Patricia) Youngberg of Wood Bridge, CT, C. Edward (Janet) Youngberg of Evergreen, CO, and Robert J. Youngberg of Littleton, CO; her two daughters—Roberta L. (Robert) Wilson of Hershey and Mary Ann (Ron) Sobon of Omaha; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorene A. Wildes of Gothenburg; special friend, Judy Williams; sisters-in-law—June Tederman and Aileen Welsh.
