Lois Shoop, 78 - September 28, 2011
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel at Cozad with the Rev. Don O’Brien officiating. Inurnment will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
Shoop was born March 15, 1933, at Stamford, to Ora and Violet (Parker) White. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1951.
On March 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Shoop at Lexington. To this union, two daughters were born.
She and her family moved throughout the world as a result of her husband’s career in the Army. Throughout his career, Lois and her children resided at Cozad intermittently. In 1978, the family was able to settle down in Cozad. No matter where life brought Shoop, her family would always remain the focal point of her life. While being a dedicated mother, she was also employed at First Bank and Trust in Cozad for many years.
Shoop was a loving and supportive grandmother with an intense love for her grandchildren, always following their interests and activities, according to family members. She was also blessed to become a great-grandma, which was something that she cherished.
She was an avid gardener and particularly loved her flowers, said family members. She was an excellent bowler, enjoyed watching movies, gambling and playing various games with her family.
Shoop was preceded in death by: her parents, Ora and Violet; her daughter, Cheryl in 1999; a great-granddaughter, Caydence in 2003; brother, Duane White; and Robert Shoop.
Survivors include: her daughter, Marcia (Duane) Fritz of Cozad; three grandchildren—Jennifer (Matt) Mroczek of Gothenburg, Scott Fritz of Lincoln and Laura Fritz of Omaha; a great-granddaughter, Swaisen Mroczek; numerous other relatives.
A memorial has been established.
