Dwayne Arthur Jensen, 70 - March 05, 2012
Dwayne Arthur Jensen, 70, of Denver, CO, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, in the company of loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, any donations or memorials can be sent to the family for a celebration of life service, which his daughters are planning to take place in July at Grand Island.
Jensen was born in Cozad on Oct. 28, 1940, to Arthur and Virginia Jensen.
He grew up on his parents’ farm near Gothenburg, and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1960.
Jensen joined the U.S. Marines soon after graduation, and was honorable discharged as an LCPL E-3 on June 14, 1966.
He married Connie Nonneman in 1965. To this union, three children were born
Jensen was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for many years as an accountant, and also for the hotel industry later in his life following his retirement from the railroad.
He was a friendly, loving and kind man with a great smile, according to family members. He was always quick to laugh and to forgive. He was known for his green thumb and passion for houseplants as well as his tasteful interior design.
Jensen enjoyed hiking and camping in national parks throughout the Rockies, the western United States and Europe. He also enjoyed weather watching and crossword puzzles to keep a sharp mind, family members said. He loved his daughters and his cherished dog, Scottie, and was proud of his 101-year-old father and large extended family across the United States.
Survivors include: his children—Genon Jenson-Devaux and Jean Francois Devaux of Serrelongue, France, Christina Jensen of Suquamish, WA, and Tricia and Jim Shoemaker of Kearney; six grandchildren—Chance, Noah, Madison, Leila Lu, Miakoda and Taten; his father, Arthur Jensen of Grand Island; six siblings—Eunice Vayas, Carol Gronewold, Rosemary Moore, Laverne Jensen, Jolyn Harris and Kathy Potter.
