Earl Tabor, 82 - May 20, 2009


Earl M. Tabor, 82, of Farnam, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
Services were held on Monday, May 18, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel at Cozad with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial took place at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Tabor was born April 5, 1927, at Gibbon to James and Sadie (Stearley) Tabor. He attended several schools throughout Nebraska before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945, where he served during World War II.
On May 4, 1949, he married Elsie Bissel. The couple moved to Hastings and later resided at Cheyenne, WY.
In 1970, he and his wife moved to Cozad where he worked at the hay mills. In 1975, he began work as a custodian for the Cozad High School, and later, Pershing Elementary School. His wife passed away in 1986.
He married Audrey Cumpston on April 9, 1998, at Holdrege. The couple resided in Cozad, then in 2001, moved to Farnam.
Tabor enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, fishing, camping and gardening, and especially music and playing various instruments, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Elsie in 1986; his parents, James and Sadie; four brothers and a sister.
?Survivors include: his wife, Audrey Tabor of Farnam; two sons—Marvin (Sandy) Tabor and Richard (Charlotte) Tabor, all of Douglas, WY; two daughters—Sandra (Patrick) Glenn and Dianna (Paul) Linnemeyer, all of Farnam; two step-sons—Matt (Kim) Howell of Gothenburg, and Pat Howell of Cozad; two brothers—Harold (Lucille) Tabor of Nampa, ID, and Orn Tabor of Sutherland, OR; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
