Eleanor Anderson Wright, 90 - December 19, 2012Eleanor Anderson Wright, 90, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012.
She was the daughter of distinguished Nebraska farmers, Esther and Fred Anderson, and was born on the family farm on May 20, 1922.
Wright graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1931. She then attended Kearney State Teachers College and graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital Training School for Nurses at Denver, CO, in 1943.
She served as 2nd Lt. with the U.S. Army during World War II as an operating room nurse.
At Hawaii in 1945, she was united in marriage to Russell Marcus Wright of Denver, former World War II Navy Lt. and prominent Denver architect. The couple remained together 63 years.
Wright and her husband resided at Denver where they raised four daughters.
Following her husband’s retirement from his architectural firm of Linder, Wright & White, the couple traveled throughout Europe, lived briefly in Denver and at Gothenburg. They then moved to San Luis Obispo, CA, for 12 years, where her husband worked as an architectural consultant, and she worked as an RN at Cabrillo Senior Care Center.
In the early 1990s, they resettled in the Denver area where she worked part time as a nurse for the Sable Senior Care Center, and in 2006, they moved to Colorado Springs to be near their daughter and her family.
Wright touched many lives and was loved by those who knew her, according to family members. She enjoyed quilting and playing bridge. She was also interested in politics, and while in the Denver area, she was an active volunteer for the Republican party.
Survivors include: her four daughters—Cheryl W. Green of New York, NY, Alanna Wright-Jones of Colorado Springs, Patricia Wright of Roslyn Heights, NY, and Joanne Wright Deshmuk of Sudbury, MA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
