Kristie Ann Bartlett, 58 - January 22, 2013Kristie Ann (Rodine) Bartlett, 58, of Cozad, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Cozad Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will take place at the First Baptist Church, 1002 Ave. C, in Gothenburg on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m.
Bartlett was born Aug. 12, 1954, at Fort Sill, OK, daughter of Wallace and Delores (Bailey) Rodine. She moved with her family to Custer County, north of Gothenburg, and attended country school at New Hope, where she was active in the New Hope Church and the New Hope community.
At the age of 6, she was led to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by her mother, family members said. Sunday school and church continued to be an important part of her life. She was a member of the Cozad Bible Church, where she was active with Sunday School and Adventure Club.
She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1973, and later earned a bachelor degree in early childhood elementary education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
On Sept. 11, 1976, she was united in marriage to Joe Bartlett at the Evangelical-Free Church in Gothenburg. To this union, two children were born.
Bartlett taught preschool in Gothenburg and was a special education teacher at Brady and Lexington High Schools.
She was passionate about education and enjoyed working with children, according to family members. She took joy in serving others through education and working with youth in the Gothenburg, Cozad, Brady and Lexington areas.
Bartlett also enjoyed her garden and had a great love of music, sharing that with family, friends and her church communities, family said.
She was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Ted and Nora Rodine; her mother-in-law, Catherine Bartlett.
Survivors include: her husband, Joe Bartlett; her daughter, Mara (Todd) Teske of Minneapolis, MN; a son, Brody Bartlett of Lincoln; father, Wallace E. Rodine of North Platte; her mother, Delores Rodine of Gothenburg; a sister, Angela (Shawn) Henley of Pleasanton, CA; brother, Randy Rodine of Houston, TX; father-in-law, Roy Bartlett of Gothenburg; brother-in-law, Ross (Mary) Bartlett of Gothenburg; a sister-in-law, Robin Bartlett of Denver, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cozad Bible Church, 1602 Ave. O, Cozad, NE 69130.
