Audrey Fae Krone, 82 - February 05, 2013Audrey Fae Grunden Krone, 82, of Gothenburg passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
A visitation will be at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 1 to 6 p.m., with family present from 2-4 p.m.
Services will take place at the First United Methodist Church, 402 Center, in Curtis on Friday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Bonnie Forney and Brian Nicklas officiating. Interment will be conducted at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Krone was born July 9, 1930, to Forrest and Blanche Grunden, north of Curtis in Frontier County, the third of four children.
She attended District 76 school, and graduated from NSA at Curtis in 1947. Upon graduation, she taught at the Austin Country School, located north of Ingham. She also taught at District 4 for a year following her marriage to Ed Krone on July 9, 1948.
Krone and her husband resided throughout their marriage on the Krone family place, located seven miles north of Moorefield. The couple raised five children.
She was an active partner on the family farm and in the neighborhood where she lived. She attended the Church of God in Moorefield and was a 4-H parent of the Tri-County 4-H Club in Lincoln County.
Krone was also a member of the Farnam School Board, the Neighborly Belles Extension Club, Frontier County Extension vice and chairman, Lincoln County Election Board, and was employed at the Huss Livestock Sale Barn in Curtis.
She and her husband enjoyed many years on the farm north of Moorefield, hosting many card parties and other neighborly get-togethers at the “White House,” according to family members. She will be remembered by family for her vitality in life and her thirst for education.
Krone was preceded in death by: her parents, Forrest and Blanche Grunden; brother, Harold Grunden; her husband, Ed Krone; granddaughter, Elizabeth Stevens; son-in-law, Kim Stevens.
Survivors include: her daughters—Emilyn Kay of Curtis, Cheryn Sue (Gerald) of Maysville, OK, Donna Jo Stevens of Kearney and Mary Rose (Nick) Klintworth of Moorefield; her son, Edward Robert, Jr. (Deb) Krone of Gothenburg; grandchildren—Lori (Chad) Kolbo of Gothenburg, Susan (Brock) Massin of Lincoln, Travis (Jessica) Beck of Portales, New Mexico, Dayna (Nathan) Sukraw of Wichita, KS, Chaunci (Erica)Beck of Ponchatoula, LA, McKenzie Stevens of Omaha, Nathan Stevens of Lincoln and John (Ryan) Klintworth of Moorefield; nine great-grandchildren.
