Kniesteadt was born June 7, 1952, at Cozad to Chris and Irma (Fenno) McNulty. She attended school in the Cozad area most of her life, until her mother’s passing in 1969 necessitated her move to Washington to live with her uncle. She then graduated from high school at Walla Walla, WA, in 1971.
Following high school, she moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she worked in casinos. Around 1974, she returned to Cozad where she began employment with Tenneco Automotive.
On June 28, 1975, she married Bob Kniesteadt at Cozad. The couple resided at Cozad where they raised two children.
Kniesteadt eventually moved on to work as a cashier at C-Mart and Jack & Jill Food Store before entering the field of home health. She loved her work as a caregiver and continued that career until 2008, when her failing health would no longer allow her to work, according to family members.
She loved getting out of the house and being active including shopping and going for long car rides, said family. She spent as much time outdoors as she could, even tagging along with her husband when he went hunting.
?Her five grandchildren always brought tremendous joy to her life and she loved to spend time with them, family members said. Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with her hospice nurses who always seemed to bring her comfort throughout the long struggle she had with her health. She was a dedicated wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend.
