Charles (Cork) Purintun, 84 - February 14, 2013

Charles “Cork” Purintun, 84, of Gothenburg died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Gothenburg.
Services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 18, with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment took place at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Purintun was born Sept. 21, 1928, at Overton, son of Hugh L. and Emma V. (Anderson) Purintun. He grew up in Overton and attended school there.
He enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1946 and served his country with the Army in Korea.
On Sept. 26, 1948, he married Kathryn Jones at Lexington. To this union, three children were born.
Purintun and his family moved to Gothenburg in 1954. He was employed as a carpenter for numerous years.
He was active in the community and the VFW. He served on the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT.
Purintun enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising a big garden, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Hugh and Emma Purintun; his two brothers—Mike and Vernon “Pat”; two sisters—Lela Ann “Dot” Huff and Eileen Jones.
?Survivors include: his wife, Kathryn Purintun of Gothenburg; his daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Vogt of Gothenburg; two sons—Daniel and James Purintun of Gothenburg; five grandchildren—Kanda (Clayton) Kleinknecht, Kody Vogt, Karmen Jones, Jessica Purintun and Erika Purintun; five great-grandchildren—Kyle, Karliegh and Kaitlyn Kleinknecht and Kalib and Kehl Jones; a sister, Catherine (Bob) Adams; nieces, nephews and extended family.
