Leo Sabin, 70 - April 02, 2013

Leo Dean Sabin, 70, of Gothenburg died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home in Gothenburg following a battle with cancer.
Memorial services will take place at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Ivey officiating.
Sabin was born June 14, 1942, at Gothenburg son of John and Eva Louise (Cloyd) Sabin. He attended schools in Gothenburg and then joined the Navy.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963. After his discharge, he was employed at Monroe’s and later as a semi-driver.
Sabin married Joyce Werner Ostendorf on Dec. 28, 1963, at the First Baptist Church of Gothenburg.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, according to family members.
Sabin was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Eva; two brothers—Stanley and Norman; sister, Jean; a daughter, Shelly.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce E. Sabin of Gothenburg; three sons—Jerry Ostendorf and Gene Ostendorf, both of Amherst, and Monty Sabin of Hastings; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters—Alice (Archie) Curtice of Cozad, Betty (Phillip) Bottom of Lincoln and Geil (John) Gilbert of Kearney; two brothers—Robert Sabin and Terry “Chub” Sabin; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
