Swede Science Competitors

OLYMPIANS PLACE SIXTH: Gothenburg High School’s Science Olympiad team competed at a regional Science Olympiad event Monday at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The Swedes placed sixth in a field of 21 teams. Winning a first-place medal in astronomy were Stuart Moore and Emma Jorgenson. Jorgenson and Parker Wrobel placed third in invasive species and Connor McCoy and Madison Coulter finished fourth in forensics. In cell biology, Wrobel and Kenny Schuman were awarded fifth place. Earning sixth in hydrogeology were Coulter and Tyson Schwanz. Also competing for the Swedes were Ali Bartels, Kayla Weyers and Kori Kowalewski. The team (all are pictured) will compete again at the state contest, which is April 23 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Maggie Tiller sponsors the team and is assisted by Cindy Moore.
