GMH staff members favor mobile health care flexibility

During a Gothenburg Memorial Hospital board meeting, Dr. Carol Shackleton-Skinner periodically checked her laptop computer to monitor a mother and her yet-to-be born baby.

When the baby began having problems, the doctor’s laptop started beeping and a nurse retrieved Shackleton-Skinner from the board room.

Fetal link is part of a software program GMH uses for its electronic health system through Kansas City-based Cerner Corporation.

“It was so cool because the link allowed me to keep an eye on what was happening and not leave the meeting until necessary,” she said.
