It’s simple—stay away from sugars

Physician, nutritionist weigh in on better eating habits during seminar

In 1993, 10%-14% of Americans were considered to be obese.

Today that number has ballooned to 25%-29% and is an epidemic, experts say.

Dr. Garret Shaw of Gothenburg Memorial Hospital said there is a simple solution to this outbreak—stop eating carbohydrates.

In the first presentation of a three-part series about health, the Gothenburg Chamber of Commerce Professional Development and Education Committee invited Shaw and Gothenburg Memorial Hospital dietician Mary Lou Block to the Gothenburg Public Library to discuss some of the dangers of easily accessible food in today’s culture .

Shaw said human bodies don’t need carbohydrates at all. However, he said it’s a battle to resist them.
