Preschool comes together

Dist. 20 to serve students beginning in August.

District 20 is making history by offering public preschool for the first time.

At its meeting Monday night, the district’s school board approved a teacher, fees and the process through which to apply for Swede Preschool Academy.

The preschool is designed to reach students not already being served by the city’s private preschool providers, school officials said.

“I’m super excited,” said Dudley Elementary principal Allison Jonas. “Our private providers do an awesome job of addressing the needs of the community, yet 20% of our kids are not exposed to preschool.
