Brady school day will get shorter

It’s a trade-off school officials believe will benefit students in the long run.

The Brady school board voted Monday night to change the daily bell schedule and add a mid-morning breakfast period for junior high and high school students, moving the district back to a traditional five-day school week.

Superintendent James McGown said consistency and scheduling for distance learning classes were considered, but when it comes right down to it, the length of the school day became a big factor.

The Brady district went to a four-day format in January 2005 to try and address some budget issues at the time.
