A visit to Oz with Crane River

INTERACTIVE TROUPE: The Crane River Theatre Company of Kearney presented “Page to Stage” Thursday afternoon to a packed community room of mostly youngsters at Gothenburg Public Library.

Sponsored by the library foundation, the troupe shared characters from “The Wizard of Oz” in interactive ways. The troupe includes young people from Nebraska and several other states, who will present “Welcome to Oz,” Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the Yanney Park Cope Amphitheater in Kearney. The public is welcome to meet Oz characters, hop inside a hot air balloon, explore hands-on bubble and balloon activities and a hot dog supper. More information about the company and other upcoming theatrical productions can be found at CraneRiver.org. With help from Crane River Company actors and actresses, youngsters roar like a lion and left, become munchkins in a squatted position with pursed lips.
