Junior Melons lose two games by one run each

The Juniors finished 1-3 last week but were only four runs away from being 3-1. The Melons lost to Holdrege 10-9 and to Ogallala 9-8. Sandwiched between those losses was an 11-1 loss to McCook. The week was salvaged on Saturday in Gothenburg with an 8-2 win over Kearney County.

Holdrege 10, Gothenburg 9

The Melons jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Holdrege on June 21, but they were unable to hold on in Holdrege and lost 10-9.

Blake Riley took the loss on the mound as Holdrege scored three runs in the sixth to win. Riley pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up the winning run in the sixth.
