Dist 20 to get 2016-17 state aid

Increase won’t match millions received in previous years.

After receiving only $249,423 in non-equalized funding last year, District 20 will get state aid 2016-17.

And more than double the amount.

Non-equalized is when districts have enough local resources to pay for needs.

According to Nebraska Department of Education officials, the district will receive $613,405 in what is considered state aid this year and next.

The increase is 146%.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Teahon said the funding is a nice surprise.

“But it won’t hold,” he said.
