The Crossing gets special use permit

Church fellowship wants to build in northeast part of town

After months of trying to obtain a special use permit to build a church, The Crossing Fellowship was granted its wish.

At the Aug. 9 meeting of the Gothenburg City Council, three members unanimously voted for the permit, but with several stipulations.

Council member Randy Waskowiak abstained from the vote because he owns property adjoining the lot for the proposed church.

Council members continued a public hearing from the July 19 meeting, when a full quorum needed to grant the permit was not present.
