Crop production clinic dates released
Pest management, soil fertility, cropping systems and water management will be among the topics to be presented at the 2010 University of Nebraska-Lincoln crop production clinics to be held at nine locations across Nebraska in January.
The clinics will provide valuable information to help crop producers and agribusiness professionals improve their profitability and safety, said Mark Bernards, extension weed specialist.
The clinics will feature presentations on soil fertility, soil water and irrigation management, cropping systems, pesticide safety, plant disease, and insect and weed management.
Program topics are tailored to each location, Bernards said. Program topics can be found online.
The clinics will be the primary venue for commercial and non-commercial pesticide applicators to renew their licenses in the categories of ag plant, regulatory and demonstration/research, Bernards said.
Private pesticide applicators can be recertified by attending the clinics.
Bernards anticipates that certified crop adviser continuing education unit credits will be available in integrated pest management (six CEU), soil and water (two CEU), and crop management (two CEU). Attendees can earn a maximum of six CEU at a location.
Online registration is available for the first time for this event and can be accessed by visiting the Web site. Registration also is available at the door starting at 8 a.m. before each clinic. The cost of the clinic is $50 or $60 for those recertifying as pesticide applicators.
