Brady Days 2013 comes to town Aug. 2-4
Old events, sprinkled with some new, are on tap for Brady’s annual celebration set for Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 4, in Brady.
Two parades, turtle races, free food and games will return as well as a mini Chautauqua, a daddy-daughter and mother-son dance, photo contest and other events to keep the celebration fresh.
The schedule is as follows:
FRIDAY, AUG. 2
4:30 p.m., sidewalk chalk art must be completed downtown and apple pies delivered to the community center.
6 p.m.—Kids and pets on parade, lineup in front of the school.
6:30 p.m.—Family night bur-gers and hotdogs at the community center; includes hotdog eating contest, sidewalk chalk prizes, pie prizes, photo contest display and Methodist Church choir performance.
7 p.m.—Ice cream social.
8 p.m.—Daddy/Daughter & Mother/Son formal dance at the tennis court.
9 p.m.—Teen dance at the tennis court with Complete Music; movie at the school football field, “Escape From Planet Earth.”
SATURDAY, AUG. 3
7-9 a.m.—Breakfast at the community center.
9 a.m.—“Old Brady Comes to Life” historical memorabilia display at the school.
9:30 a.m.—Parade lineup beginning on Popleton Street in front of the school.
10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.—Car show downtown.
11:30 a.m.—MedAir Flight-for-Life helicopter at the baseball field following the parade; lunch at the community center; penny carnival at the park; cookie decorating at the park; laser tag at the park, slip-n-slide at the park; vendor tables on the bank lawn, free and open to anyone.
1 p.m.—3-on-3 mud volleyball at the park, sign up at the Hitchin’ Post; horseshoes in the park.
1-4 p.m.—Mechanical bull at the tennis courts.
2 p.m.—Turtle races in the circle downtown; bingo at the Community Center.
3 p.m.—Tug-of-war at the park.
3:30 p.m.—“Old Brady Comes to Life” character portrayals at the school.
5 p.m.—Firemen’s barbecue at the community center.
6 p.m.-midnight—Mechanical bull downtown.
9 p.m.—Street dance.
SUNDAY, AUG 4
7 a.m.—5K & 10K Road Run and Fun Walk starting at the school parking lot.
8:30 a.m.—Worship service/breakfast at the Community Center.
10 a.m. Softball tournament.
Noon—Community potluck at the park, bring food to share, table service and chairs.
