Sensational Sunflowers RARE sight
The abundance of sunflowers this year was brought about by last year’s drought, according to local agronomist Dave Collins. Collins said much of the native grass died in the drought which meant a more difficult start this year. With several timely rains and the absence of shade from grass, he said a smaller and more succulent crop of sunflowers, that livestock are eating, are at their peak now. “Mother Nature just got everything right,” Collins said. This crop of flowers is growing on both sides of Buttermilk Hill, between Gothenburg and Brady.
