Brady defense continues to struggle

Big first half lead buries Eagles, 60-8

Brady’s defense continues to struggle as the Eagles lost to Wallace Friday night, 60-8.

Head coach Andy Seamann said the team struggled to stop the Wildcats and did a bad job of finishing plays.

Heading into the matchup with undefeated Wallace, Seamann said the week of preparation was good and the team looked ready.

However all of the blame can- not be put on the defense.

The offense did put the defense in bad positions due to two interceptions and two bad punts giving the Wildcats good field position, Seamann said.

Cody Warren scored the only touchdown for the Eagles on a toss play to the left.

At the end of the first quarter, Brady trailed Wallace 20-6.

Wallace would attack that struggling defense for 26 more points, leading at halftime 46-6 over the Eagles.

Offensively, the Eagles did have success running the football averaging nearly four yards per carry.

Brady would only score two points the rest of the game.

Wallace lined up to punt but the snap went over the punters head and rolled out of the endzone.

As a team, Brady ran the ball 43 times for 157 yards of offense.

Five Eagles shared the ground attack with Matt Neiman accounting for a team high, 49 yards. Trevor Mann ran 16 times for 40 yards, Eric Roe chewed up 31 yards on four carries.

Cody Warren and Levi DeStefano combined for 10 carries and 37 yards.

Brady looks to sharpen up its defense and bounce back against a one-win Hayes Center team at home for Parent’s Night.

“We need to get back to the drawing board and make some changes,” Seaman said. “Our defense has struggled two weeks in a row in bad losses and some personnel changes may be made.”

Seamann said Hayes Center only has one win but the Cardinals have been playing without their best player, who returns to play against Brady.

The Eagles will look to establish the run and stay balanced on offense.

A large part of the game plan will include Warren, Mann and Neiman and see what they can do for us, Seamann said.
