Providing health care in air

New job: Gothenburg native Luke Ballmer started working as a flight nurse for Good Samaritan Hospital AirCare in Kearney in September. Ballmer, who moved from the Lincoln area to Kearney, said he always wanted to work for AirCare which allows him to be closer to family and serve the region where he grew up. When they’re not flying, chief flight nurse Doug Wolf said flight nurses provide care to critically ill and injured patients in the hospital including in the emergency and intensive care units and cardiac catheterization lab. Ballmer has worked in the emergency department at Bryan Health West in Lincoln, has numerous health-related certifications, including licensed critical care paramedic. While living in the Lincoln area, Ballmer was a member of the Raymond Fire Department and twice was awarded emergency medical technician of the year. He also had several health-related positions in the department. Ballmer is pictured with an AirCare helicopter.
