Brady grant continues for master drainage plan
The Village of Brady is one of seven communities awarded grants as the second cycle of funding for ongoing planning efforts.
Brady will be awarded $25,600 to develop a master drainage plan.
Other towns and their awards include:
Duncan—$25,800 to develop a utility planning report
Upland —$21,500 to develop a water study
Hubbell—$21,500 to develop a water system pre-engineering report
Hardy—$15,900 to develop a wastewater study

The grants are part of Nebraska’s annual allocation of CDBG funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These awards mark the end of the second cycle of funding for planning projects from DED’s 2013 CDBG allocations.
Applications for the third, open cycle are now being accepted until April 10, 2014 or until 2013 allocated funds are depleted.
Up to $30,000 is available for communities and as much as $50,000 is available for multi-communities, counties or regional applicants.
Planning activities that are considered for funding include community strategic planning, such as environmental assessments, citizen participation, downtown revitalization, and fiscal management. Analyses of impediments and barriers to fair housing choices may qualify, as do neighborhood/comprehensive/strategic development plans.
Also considered are functional or special studies for housing, infrastructure, community economic development, land use/regulatory measure, main street improvement districts, downtown revitalization, energy conservation and transportation.
In addition, environmental, heritage tourism, and historic preservation studies, and pre-engineering studies for publicly-owned water/wastewater projects may qualify.
