3 Swedes medal at CNFL #2 meet

Two varsity members and a novice on the Swede speech team took first place honors at the second Central Nebraska Forensic League contest Saturday in Grand Island.

Josh Clark continued his winning ways in extemporaneous speaking while Ashlee Bruntz took the winner’s circle for the first time this year in entertainment speaking.

Freshman Jon Rehmert scored his first win of the year in the novice division of extemporaneous speaking.

Overall, speech team advisor Dan Jensen was pleased with how the Swedes performed.

This Saturday, the team hosts its own invite in Gothenburg.

Humorous prose—Varsity: 9. Jeramie VanAcker, 10. Ashlee Bruntz, superior ribbons, Jessica Wolff, Chris Block.

Serious Prose—Varsity: 14. Elisa Meridith; superior ribbon, John Olson; Novice: 8. Bailey Gibbens.

Poetry—Varsity: 6. Elisa Meridith; superior ribbon, Brennan Costello; Novice: superior ribbon, Haydon McKenney.

Duet acting—Varsity: 12. Willis Middleton and Jeramie VanAcker; superior ribbon, Cale Moore and Ryan Ostendorf; Novice: 4. Maddy Costello and Morgan Kowalewski; superior ribbon Jon Rehmert and Eric Cole.

Oral interpretation of drama—Varsity: superior ribbon, Liz Graham, Leah Loostrom, Chris Block, Alex Spencer, Coltin Bebensee. Novice: 9. Amanda Larson, Kalee Beyea, Jon Rehmert, Ricci Whitney, Bailey Gibbens.
