Elnora Brown, 78 - June 23, 2013

Elnora V. Brown, 78, of Gothenburg passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
A visitation will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on Tuesday, June 25, from 1 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Brown was born March 1, 1935, at Melbeta, NE, daughter of George L. and Kathryn (Kihlthau) Kaufman.
She grew up at Scottsbluff County and graduated from Minatare High School.
On Jan. 1, 1956, she married Harry Brown at the First United Methodist Church of Lodgepole. To this union, four children were born. The couple resided at Lodgepole and then moved to Gothenburg in 1970.
Brown was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Gothenburg Gardenaires and the United Methodist Church Women.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking, crafting and volunteering, according to family members. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Brown was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Kathryn; an infant brother, Byron Kaufman; sister-in-law, Carol Kaufman.
Survivors include: her husband, Harry Curtis Brown of Gothenburg; two sons—Byron (Marilyn) Brown of Curtis and Glen (Shelly) Brown of Amherst; two daughters—Marcella (Jerry) Ballah of Scottsdale, AZ, and Peggy (Michael) Hudson of Mansfield, TX; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters—Loretta (Don) Roth, Janice (Melvin) Laeger, Joyce (Dick) Brown and Sandy (Wayne) Howard; three brothers—Milton (Sharon) Kaufman, Steven Kaufman and George (Pat) Kaufman, Jr; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
