Donna JoAnne Miller, 82 - June 23, 2013Donna JoAnne Miller, 82, of Axtell, formerly of Brady, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Gothenburg with the Rev. David Evenson officiating. Interment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
A visitation will be conducted from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Miller was born Nov. 2, 1930, at North Platte to Dewey McKinley and Alice Bernice Lawrence. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1948.
On July 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Anton “Tony” Miller of rural Gothenburg at North Platte.
After her husband re-enlisted the couple moved to Germany in 1950 where her husband, a World War II Army veteran, was assigned. They returned to the North Platte area in 1953 upon his discharge.
Miller and her husband farmed near Hershey and Maxwell, and moved to Wild Horse Valley north of Brady in 1964 where they farmed and raised livestock.
After the death of her husband in 2008, she moved to Axtell in 2009, and to Bethany Home in 2013.
?Miller, who loved to cook, grew many vegetables in a large garden from which she prepared excellent meals, said family members. She loved cattle, the farm life and the farm as well as walking in the canyons, especially with their dog Beau, her family and her grandchildren.
?She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for more than 45 years, a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Gothenburg and a current member of Bethany Lutheran of Axtell.
Miller was preceded in death by: her husband, Tony; a brother, Doug; sister, Maxine.
Survivors include: her sons—Terry (Donella) Miller of Garden City, KS, Steve (Geri Lynn) Miller of Laramie, WY, and Doug (Laura) Miller of Axtell; four grandsons—Derek, Eric, Jordan and Benjamin; three granddaughters—Melissa, Kristen and Morgan; a sister-in-law, Jeannine Lawrence, of Tempe, AZ.
