Glen Stombaugh - January 08, 2014Glen G. Stombaugh, 74, of Eustis passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eustis. Burial will be conducted at the Westview Cemetery at Eustis.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Stombaugh was born Jan. 28, 1939, at Buhl, ID, to Clifford and Helen (Heater) Stombaugh. He attended school at Eustis until the eighth grade and then returned to work on the family farm.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Hazen on Sept. 11, 1960, at the Farnam United Methodist Church. The couple farmed south of Farnam and then moved to Eustis in 1969.
Stombaugh was first employed at Coop Elevators and KW Motors. He and his wife owned and operated Glen’s Garage from 1971 until 1979, then he worked at KN Energy until his retirement in 2001.
Although retired, he had continued to work daily for fertilizer companies and area farmers.
His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2001.
On Aug. 20, 2005, he married Shirley Horn at the Evangelical Free Church of Lexington. The couple resided at Eustis.
Stombaugh had been a long-term member of the Eustis Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad. He and his wife attended Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Clifford and Helen; his first wife, Wilma; sisters—Lila Whaley and Verna Ercoli; brother-in-law, Bill Hilker.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley of Eustis; his children—Keith (Tami) Stombaugh of Cozad, Nancy (Ray) Westphal of Farnam and Cheri (Jeff) Bromander of Eustis; grandchildren—Ann (DJ), Ranae (Kevin), Randy, Tristan, Hannah and Dannyl; great-grandchildren—Kylee, Donald, Jessa, Mickala, Ryann, Whitney and Wyatt; three brothers—Clyde (Laveda) Stombaugh of Cozad, Earl (Judy) Stombaugh of Buffalo Gap, SD, and Jay (Sharon) Stombaugh of Lexington; sisters—June Easterday of Eustis and Opal Easterday of Buhl, ID; sister-in-law, Irene Hilker of Axtell; his step-children and grandchildren—Connie (Ron) Lousberg of Greeley, CO, Rhonda (Roger) Shaner of Lexington, Tammy (Todd) Schultz of Brady and Angie (Neil) Jones of Kearney, Ethan, Evan, Anthony, Tara (Robert), Justin (Christyne), Alex and Roree.
Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad.
