Jerry Lee Patterson, 69 - October 05, 2014

Jerry Lee Patterson, 69, of Lexington died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Lexington.
Memorial services were conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Monday, Oct. 13, with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Interment took place prior to the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Patterson was born Aug. 16, 1945, at Arnold, son of Vernon W. and Martha (McFadden) Patterson.
He grew up at Arnold where he attended school and lived until joining the U.S. Army in 1966. He was sent to Germany to serve during the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge, he married Melgene Wagner on May 21, 1975, at Kearney. To this union, three sons and a daughter were born. He also raised a granddaughter.
Patterson was employed as a supervisor at Valley Sales for over 12 years, and worked for Tyson for 25 years, recently semi-retiring and going back to work part-time at the Rendering Department.
He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, according to family members. He liked 1950s and 1960s music and watching pro wrestling. He also collected coins, knives and clocks, and enjoyed motorcycles as well as going to Sturgis, SD.
?Patterson was preceded in death by: his father, Vernon W. Patterson; four brothers; his grandparents; step-father; a nephew; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Survivors include: his wife, Melgene Patterson of Lexington; three sons—Jeffery Ready of Greenwood, James (Raija) Patterson of Klamath Falls, OR, and Jason Patterson of Lexington; his daughter, Deanna (Matthew) Lessig of Overton; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his mother, Martha McFadden of Lexington; sister, Loy Kyle of Cozad; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
