Albert Connelly, 96 - January 12, 2015

Albert L. Connelly, 96, of Gothenburg, formerly of Brady, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Cozad.
Services will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Don O’Brien officiating. Burial will be at the Gaslin Cemetery at Brady.
A visitation will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 8 p.m. with family present from 4 to 6 p.m.
Connelly was born Dec. 8, 1918, in the hills south of Brady, son of John Franklin “Frank” and Elnora (Nelsen) Connelly.
He married Dora Opal Carver on Aug. 10, 1942, at Oberlin, KS. To this union, two daughters were born.
Connelly served his country with the U.S. Army from October 1942 to October 1945. During this time, he spent seven months overseas fighting for his country, and spent four months as a POW.
After his discharge, he returned to the Brady area and continued a lifetime of farming and ranching.
?He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg.
?Connelly was preceded in death by: his wife, Dora; his parents, Frank and Nora Connelly; a brother, Ray (LaVeda) Connelly.
?Survivors include: his daughters—Mary (Craig) Finke of Goth­enburg and Jerry (Alan) Ditson of Overton; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
