Ivar (Bud) Johnson, 89 - February 26, 2015

Ivar “Bud” Wayne Johnson, 89, of Gothenburg passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Gothenburg.
Services will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Ivey officiating. Interment will be at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Johnson was born Aug. 17, 1925, at Gothenburg, the son of Ivar Oscar and Ruth Edith (Larson) Johnson.
He grew up at Gothenburg and graduated with the Class of 1943. At the age of 12 he excepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and while he was in high school, he joined the Baptist Church.
Johnson was a loyal and faithful member of the First Baptist Church for over 72 years. He dearly loved his church, according to family members, and served in all aspects.
He spent his working career at the Gothenburg State Bank, and was also a member of the Gideon’s International.
?Johnson loved humor and always enjoyed joking around, the family said. He was the self-proclaimed No. 1 Husker fan and still has his season tickets.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ivar and Ruth; his sister, Genevieve Johnson; a brother, Glen Johnson.
Survivors include: his sister, Helen Jean Johnson of Gothenburg; his cousins—Eleanor Johnson, Crystal Johnson and Barbara Johnson; numerous other family members.
