Estel Wear, 79 - March 07, 2015

Estel M. Wear, 79, of Hastings, originally of Farnam, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at his home surrounded by family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Sunday, March 15, at the home of Marlin Wear in Overton.
Wear was born Jan. 29, 1936, at Farnam to Carl and Mae Wear, the oldest of five children.
He was raised in Farnam and attended Farnam school until his graduation in 1954. While in school his senior year, he was involved with football, basketball and the yearbook staff.
Following high school, Wear took up truck driving with numerous trucking companies, then went to work at Mann Hay Company where he remained until his retirement in 2001.
While employed with Mann Hay, he was the lead swather/grinder operator. Even after his retirement, he couldn’t stay away from working, and it was common to see him out tinkering around on the machines, trucks and cars, according to family members.
Wear enjoyed spending time with his family whether it be camping, fishing, hunting or just sitting watching a ball game, mostly Husker games, as he was an avid Nebraska Husker fan, family members said.
He loved watching football games as well as reading, drawing, light mechanics and watching his western movies along with the news and weather, said the family. You could count on him for an up-to-date weather report.
