Dave Middleton, 61 - March 16, 2015

Dave A. Middleton, 61, of Kearney, originally of Gothenburg, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at his residence.
Memorial services were conducted on Friday, March 20, at the Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. John Gosswein officiating. Interment with military honors, conducted by the American Legion Post 64 of Gothenburg and the Navy Honors Team, took place on Saturday, March 21, at the Peckham Cemetery of rural Gothenburg with the Rev. Jane Freeman officiating. Banner Methodist Church hosted fellowship.
Middleton was born Aug. 13, 1953, at Gothenburg to Sumner and Margaret (Hitchcock) Middleton. He grew up in Gothenburg and was a Class of 1971 graduate of Gothenburg High School.
After graduation, he joined the Navy and served on the carrier USS Independence.
He married Debbie Schaaf in Kearney on May, 9, 1976. The couple resided at Kearney where he worked for a time at Western Schwinn. He later was employed as a draftsman for various manufacturing companies including DeLux Manufacturing in Kearney, Big Valley of Lexington and Coleman Powermate in Kearney.
?Middleton was a member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was active serving as council president and playing in the praise band.
?His pastimes included nature photography, duck hunting and music.
?Middleton was preceded in death by his parents, Sumner and Margaret.
Survivors include: his wife, Debbie of Kearney; his sons—Ben of Chicago and Sam of Kear­ney; his daughter, Ellie (Robb) Krysl of Ft. Collins, CO; a brother, Stephen (Katherine) of Gothenburg; sister, Cate (Chuck) Russo of Phoenix, AZ; step-mother, Bev Middleton of Gothenburg; step-brothers—Brian Haugen of Minnesota and Randy Haugen of Florida; step-sisters—Sandy Bennett of Florida and Joy Kuhlman of Gothenburg; uncle and aunt, Mike and Peg Hitchcock.
Memorials are suggested to the Family of Christ Lutheran Church.
