Donna Garrelts, 78 - May 01, 2015

Donna Mae Earl Garrelts, 78, of Cozad passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be conducted at the Church of Christ, 2117 Newell St., at Cozad on Wednesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James McCrickard officiating. Interment will be at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Garrelts was born April 15, 1937, at Overton, daughter of Doris and Francis Earl.
She married Bernard Garrelts on July 21, 1956. To this union, five children were born.
Garrelts was employed with numerous jobs over the years including a secretary, waitress and checker as well as helping with the family farm.
She was active with her church and 4-H throughout the years. In later years, she was a member of an Extension Club.
Her children and grandchildren always came first to her, the family said. She would always give a smile to anyone she met, and though while struggling at the end, she would still give a little smile, fighting a long hard battle with her illness.
Garrelts was preceded in death by: her parents, Francis and Doris; her husband, Bernard; her son, Kevin; a brother, David; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Laura Garrelts; son-in-law, Mike Huss.
?Survivors include: her daughters—Kyla Huss, Kathy Garrelts, Karen (Steve) Barrett, Kanda (Rodger, Jr.) Earll, and Mark (Jamie) Poggendorf of which she claimed as her own son, according to family members; grandchildren—Heather (Jason) Lybarger, Kori (Toby) Harm, Holly Barrett, Joe, Trent, Morgan Ostendorf, Isaac, Joshua, Seth, Hannah Albertson and Anna Poggendorf; great-grandchildren—Mariah, Addison and Gracie Harm, Damian Zerr, Desi Townsend, Clayton and Tristan Lybarger; special friend, Edna Long.
