Emily Ryan, 80 - May 19, 2015

Emily Ryan, 80, of Orlando, FL, originally of Gothenburg, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Lake Bennett Health & Rehap Center in Orlando.
Services are pending.
Ryan was born to Elbert T. and Irene (Earll) McDermott at Gothenburg on Oct. 29, 1934.
She attended country school for three years then graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1953.
After high school, she served with the WAC Army Band.
In 1958, she married Ralph Maiwaldt. To this union, a son was born. The couple later divorced. Some years later, she married Ronald Ryan.
Ryan received a degree in hotel management and was employed with hotels and motels most of her life, retiring in 2013.
She was a member of the Silver Star Community Veteran’s organization in Orlando where she served as treasurer.
Throughout her life, she had many interests including painting in a variety of styles, playing in several symphonies in the New York area and sewing costumes for plays at Merritt Island, FL.
Ryan also enjoyed time with her nephews and nieces and their children, being “Aunt M,” according to family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Elbert and Irene; a brother, Elbert J.; sister, Christina Ulmer.
Survivors include: her son, Karl Thain; her sisters—Delphean Schneider and Lorene Bohlen; numerous nieces and nephews.
