D. Yvonne Derra, 86 - June 27, 2015

D. Yvonne Derra, 86, of Gothenburg, formerly of Farnam and Brady, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services will be conducted at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Friday, July 3, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don O’Brien officiating. At the request of Derra, wear colorful clothing to celebrate her life, family said. A private inurnrment will follow at the Brady Cemetery.
Derra was born Oct. 2, 1928, at Doniphan, daughter of Ernest and Evelyn (Cochran) Wiggers.
Her family moved to Farnam in March of 1932, residing on a farm north of Farnam where she attended country school.
She graduated from Farnam High in 1946. Her first year of high school she boarded with a town family, then her younger sister, Kate, came to town for high school and they boarded together.
On June 18, 1946, she married Don Derra at the Farnam Catholic Church. To this union, two children were born.
She and her husband resided seven miles south of Farnam, then they moved north of Farnam for the next seven years.
In March of 1954, the family moved to the Valley south of Brady, where they lived and farmed for 11 years. They then moved to Jeffrey Lake for a few years before making their home in Gothenburg.
Derra was employed over the years with Bert & Earl’s Lounge, Kip’s Drive In and Aden’s Decorator.
?She was a member of the Brady and Gothenburg Altar Society, a birthday club in Brady and an Extension club.
?Derra volunteered with the Fire Girls Camp in Farnam and Brady, and the 4-H group in Brady where she was the leader. While living in Farnam, she was also a member of the Rebecca’s.
?She loved to play bridge and was a member of many bridge clubs, the family said. She also loved spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren.
Derra was preceded in death by: her parents, Ernest and Evelyn Wiggers; a grandson, Troy Derra; three brothers-in-law.
Survivors include: her husband, Donald Derra of Gothenburg; a son, Larry (Diane) Derra of North Platte; her daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Conley of Brady; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one grea-great-grandson; sisters—Arlene Pape, Willa Zeeh and Catherine Anderson; brother, Gordon (Abby) Wiggers; numerous extended family members.
