Barton Damrow, 34 - September 01, 2015

Barton Donald Damrow, 34, of Holdrege passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, surrounded by family and friends at Bryan Medical Center-West Campus in Lincoln after a brief illness.
A celebration of life service took place on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Revs. Kenton Birtell and Daren Popple officiating. Interment was at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Damrow was born at Holdrege on March 15, 1981, the son of Dennis and Sherry (Karlson) Damrow.
He started wrestling at age 3 and continued throughout high school, and was chosen team captain his senior year. He also enjoyed football, lifting weights and participating in 4-H showing cattle, the family said.
Damrow graduated from Holdrege High School with the Class of 1999, and went on to further his education at Southeast Community College in Beatrice.
After receiving his associates degree in agribusiness, he continued his education at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO, receiving his bachelor’s degree in landscape architectural design.
?He moved back to Holdrege and has worked for his brother-in-law at Holdrege Irrigation for the past 14 years. He attended classes with Reinke to become a certified expert in the field.
Growing up, his life revolved around the farm, his four-wheelers and snowmobiles, according to family members. He was excellent at taking everything apart, but never putting anything back together. He loved spending time at the cabin at the Harlan County Reservoir riding his jet ski, boating and spending quality time with his family and friends.
?Those that knew him, knew his smile, his humor and his sidekick, Dexter, family said.
Damrow was preceded in death by: his maternal grandfather, Burton Karlson; paternal grandparents, Don and June Damrow; uncles—Dick Damrow and Marty Damrow; cousin, Jason Wagner.
Survivors include: his parents, Dennis and Sherry Damrow of Gothenburg; his sister and brother-in-law, Lynse (Tim) Schmidt of Holdrege; three nephews—Austin, Cael and Kaden Schmidt; maternal grandmother, Berdeen Karlson of Holdrege; aunts and uncles—Dudley and Linda Karlson of Holdrege, Mark and Brenda Wagner of Rosemount, MN, Mary Jen Bear of Cedar Rapids, IA, Linda and Gordon Slothower of Springdale, AR, and Jodi Damrow of Holdrege; numerous cousins and other relatives.
