Bissell was born Oct. 11, 1920, north of North Platte to Benjamin Clinton and Beulah A. (Reynolds) Gosnell. When she was a small girl her family moved to a farm south of Maxwell on the Brady Island. She graduated from Maxwell High School with the Class of 1939.
On May 21, 1941, she married LeRoy Gage at Lexington. To this union, four children were born.
She and her husband moved to Maxwell in 1973 where she cooked at various restaurants in and around the North Platte and Maxwell area.
Bissell was also employed with Goodall’s of Ogallala and Goshen Rubber in Gothenburg. She retired in 1982 due to her husband’s poor health, who passed away July 28, 1983.
She married Delmar Bissell on April 3, 1988, at Maxwell. The couple moved to Premier Estates at North Platte in December of 2009. Her husband passed away Feb. 7, 2012.
Bissell had a quick wit and was always ready with a quick comeback, according to family members. She was an excellent cook and nothing gave her more joy than having her family around and serving them a homemade meal, especially beef and noodles.
