Billy Jack Minges, 84 - October 24, 2015

Billy Jack Minges, 84, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Farnam, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Indianapolis.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Minges was born Dec. 31, 1930, at Kansas City, MO, son of William Joseph Minges and Edith Flora Minges.
He lived at Noel, MO, and moved to Concord, CA, where he attended school.
Minges then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served his country for three years as a sergeant in crash rescue.
Places he resided included Wharton, TX, Indianapolis and Farnam.
On Feb. 27, 1955, he married Shirley Hatton at Las Vegas, NV. To this union, three sons and one daughter were born, and he gained a step-daughter.
Minges was employed as a grocery store manager, an over-the-road truck driver and worked for an oil laboratory.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Lion’s Club and the Farnam Cemetery Board.
?Minges enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and loved to play his guitar and sing, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his father, William Joseph Minges; mother, Edith Flora Minges; his step-daughter, Shawn Poorman; a brother, Joe Minges; sisters—Hazel Pottorff, Dorothy Long and Helen; son-in-law, Terry Fritz; a grandson, Jeremy Fritz; great-grandchildren—Asher, Gideon and Maria.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Minges; sons—Mark (Susan) Minges, Brett (Sandy) Minges and Cameron (Carol) Minges; his daughter, Victoria Fritz; a brother, Ray Minges; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Farnam Library.
