Clifford Reed, 65 - November 07, 2016

Clifford Alan Reed, 65, of Brady passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Gothenburg Health.
Christian Wake services took place on Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted on Friday, Nov. 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Josh Brown as celebrant. Burial was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors.
Reed was born Jan. 24, 1951, at North Platte to James J. and Gladys (Hill) Reed. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 1969.
He enlisted with the United States Marines from 1969 to 1973, serving in Vietnam for two tours.
In 1971, he married Sue Mickelson (Amerine). To this union, two sons were born.
Following his discharge, he settled in California where he was employed in security and law enforcement. While residing at California, he obtained his bachelor’s degree.
Reed moved back to North Platte in 1982 where he went to work for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
On July 30, 1983, he married Gayle Guildner at North Platte.
He later took over his father’s coin shop, Reed’s Coin Shop, changing the name to Pawnee Coin and Pawn Shop, and then to The Pawn Shop. He later sold the business in 1995.
Reed then worked for an Alaskan Cartridge Company as a traveling sales representative until March of 2000.
He coached the North Platte High School Trap Team, including the 1993 National Championship team. He was an avid trap shooter and loved to share and teach his sport, according to family members. He was also an avid hunter and spent much time with his family and friends.
?Reed was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW, the American Legion, Numismatic Association, past-president and life member of the State Trapshooting Association, past-president and life member of the Wildlife Gun Club, past-president of the Platte Valley Coin Club, a member of the Eagles, and was a sergeant with the Wild Horse Valley Militia.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and grandparents; a nephew, Spencer Coe; father-in-law, Chalmer Guildner; Godfather, Bernard Grieser.
Survivors include: his wife, Gayle of Brady; his sons—James (Angie) Reed and Christopher (Keila) Reed, all of North Platte; grandchildren—Savannah, Logan, Issac, Brady and Maddie; siblings—James Michael Reed of Leavenworth, KS, Ron (Lois) Reed, Thomas W. Reed and Mary Ellen (Paul) Pedersen, all of North Platte, and Susan (Steve) Coe of Lemoyne; Godson, Rylan Rippen of North Platte; mother-in-law, Wilma Guildner of Gothenburg; brother-in-law, William Guildner of North Platte; an aunt, Evelyn Reed of North Platte; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established.
