Lavone Gerdes, 91 - December 23, 2016

Lavone Gerdes, 91, of Gothenburg passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Interment will take place at the Cozad Cemetery.
Gerdes was born July 12, 1925, at Gothenburg, daughter of John and Mary (Fishburn) Trimble.
She married Orville “Smoke” B. Gerdes on June 2, 1943, at Lexington. The couple moved to the West Coast in 1950 and lived there for nine years.
Gerdes had been employed with Monroe Auto Company from 1963 to 1965, Nebraska Plastics 1965 to 1967, Evening Star Court, and with South View Manor Care Home for seven years.
She enjoyed attending Faith Chapel and being active in the church, and she could always be found giving out religious tracks, according to family members.
?Gerdes also enjoyed singing and loved fishing as well as having coffee and playing cards with friends and family, stated the family.
?She was preceded in death by: her husband, Orville; a son, Orville LeRoy; her parents, John and Mary; nine brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include: her sons—Kenny (Linda) Gerdes and Roger Gerdes, all of Cozad, and Dallas (Becky) Gerdes of Oconto; her daughter, Connie Mosher of Friend; eight grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
