Bonnita Thompson, 77 - March 13, 2017

Bonnita Joy (Fecht) Thompson, 77, of Fountain Hills, AZ, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at her home following a valiant struggle with COPD and lung cancer.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date with inurnment to be at the Prescott National Cemetery at Prescott, AZ.
Thompson was born in Gothenburg on Nov. 11, 1939, to John and Ethel Fecht (Shaffer). In 1955, the family moved to Burns, OR, where she graduated from High School.
She married Dennis Thompson on June 5,1958. To this union, two children were born.
Thompson and her family moved often, first in the military, and later for business purposes living literally from coast-to-coast plus Guam, settling at Arizona, which she enjoyed very much, according to family members.
She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, loved music, reading, old movies and was an active birder, family said.
Thompson was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Ethel; brothers—Keith Fecht and Don Fecht; sisters-in-law—Betty Fecht, Bernadine Fecht and Marilyn Fecht.
?Survivors include: her husband, Dennis; her daughter, Debra (Lance) Rompel of South Elgin, IL; her son, Douglas (Elizabeth) of Elmhurst, IL; grandchildren—Michael Valent of McClure, PA, Ryan Rompel and Zach Rompel, both of South Elgin, and Sam Thompson of Oak Park IL; great-grandchildren—Phoenix Valent and Helena Valent; her sisters—Corinne (Carol) Sappingfield of Gothenburg and Lorene (Dan) Billington of Folkston, GA; a brother, John B. (Marlene) Fecht of Yakima, WA; sister-in-law, Reta Severtson of Fountain Hills; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology at Ithaca, NY, or donor’s favorite library.
